SNU LIFE

It feels like home. It’s our priority to create a place for you to connect. For some, this means hanging out in the comfortable residence halls, a visit over a hot cup of coffee at our campus coffee shop, laughs over lunch at the on-campus Chick-fil-A®, teaching a small group or leading chapel worship, maybe diving into student government. SNU fosters a Christian atmosphere where each student is valued. However you want to be engaged on campus, there’s a place for you.

Meet Diana Alvarez, a sophomore pursuing a nursing degree here at SNU!

Diana is a first-generation college student and said her two main reasons for attending SNU were the community and the scholarships she earned. Even though SNU wasn’t on her radar, she feels God led her here. After her first tour and finding out that her finances would align, she realized SNU was where she needed to be.

Diana earned many scholarships, allowing her to attend SNU and pursue her nursing degree. Diana would like to thank her donors and the scholarships, stating that she would not be able to attend SNU without their generosity. She says, “I am truly so grateful, and I will never take this opportunity for granted.”

While staying busy with her degree, Diana manages to be involved in SNU organizations like SSS (Student Support Services) and the Hispanic Society. Although she lives off campus, being a commuter has not stopped Diana from digging her roots deeper into SNU. She attends on-campus events like Kerygma (a student-led ministry) and frequents the commuter lounge and the library, giving credit to Ethan Thomason and the environment in the library for creating a sense of community and opening up more opportunities to those who live off-campus. Diana says, “This sense of community and the structure of SNU’s morals and values has allowed me to grow closer to God alongside my peers.”

Once she graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Diana plans to become an RN and pursue her passion for children’s pediatrics. SNU is cheering you on, Diana!

Spring Planting is a month-long campaign to raise money for the SNU Fund, which provides crucial scholarships that make it possible for students like Diana to be part of the SNU community. No matter how big or small your donation, the blessing SNU students receive is invaluable. Give today at www.snu.edu/springplanting! ⚡️
